Kathleen Barret was appointed to President and CEO of the institute, effective June 8, 2009. Ms. Barret has spearheaded the launch and development of IIBA® for the past five years in her capacity as a volunteer member of the Board of Directors.

“I will now have the opportunity to work on all the initiatives I simply didn’t have time for when I was volunteering for IIBA® and working at a full-time job,” says Ms. Barret who is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She worked at the Bank of Montreal for nine years. “There was always so much more I wanted to accomplish, and I am now looking forward to focusing all of my attention and energy on taking the organization to the next level.”

The IIBA® Annual General Meeting on June 23rd at the Hyatt Regency hotel was held in conjunction with the World Congress for Business Analysts where the institute also hosted its first Chief Information Officer Forum on June 24.

During the event, IIBA® Board members facilitated a discussion on the topic “Back to Basics: Coming Out Ahead After the Recession is Over”.
